What They Are

Later, an abutment gets attached to the top of the implant in order to support a crown, bridge, or denture. Zirconia implants feature one-piece construction, which means part of the implant must stay above the gumline during osteointegration.
- They have a proven track record of success. Titanium implants have been around for much longer than zirconia ones, and many studies support their effectiveness as a long-term tooth replacement solution.
Advantages of Zirconia Implants
Some noteworthy advantages of zirconia implants include:
- Titanium implants can sometimes give the gums a slightly grayish appearance. Zirconia implants are white in color and may produce more natural aesthetics.
- Because they have very little metal in them, zirconia implants are often favored by individuals who are concerned about metal sensitivities or allergies. (It is important to note that titanium allergies are extremely rare.)
- They have a lower risk of corrosion than titanium.
Is One Better Than the Other?
Both titanium and zirconia implants offer outstanding advantages, and the risks involved with both materials are minimal. However, one or the other may be better for your unique situation.
