Veneers<\/a> are a popular cosmetic treatment option because they can hide multiple imperfections in teeth, they often last for many years, and they look gorgeous. But before you get them, you may have some important questions about what to expect. Is the treatment process painful? What do veneers feel like once they are on the teeth? The Treatment Process & Temporary Veneers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To prepare your teeth for veneers, your dentist will likely have to remove a sliver of tooth enamel. You should be numb during this process, so you should not experience any pain. You might just notice some pressure. Then, your care team will place temporary veneers on your teeth while a laboratory makes your permanent ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After this prep appointment, your teeth and gums may be more sensitive than usual. And your temporary veneers may feel strange in your mouth; they are often a bit bigger and rougher than natural teeth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can manage any discomfort by taking pain relievers and eating a soft, mild diet. If your temporary veneers cause a lisp, speak slowly and carefully. Your mouth should adapt to them after a while.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Getting Your Permanent Veneers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After the lab sends your permanent veneers to your dentist\u2019s office, they will be placed on your teeth. You can expect them to feel smoother, thinner, and much more natural than temporary veneers. However, you might experience a new bout of sensitivity in the days after they are placed. This might last just a few days to a few weeks. Any speech abnormalities should wear off in a reasonable period of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have any ongoing struggles with your permanent veneers, let your dental team know! They might be able to slightly modify the restorations so they are more comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Veneers Should Feel Natural, Normal, & Comfortable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After your treatment process is complete and you have had time to adjust to your veneers, they should feel very normal in your mouth! In fact, they should be so comfortable that you might even forget they are there. You can expect to be able to chew, speak, and smile with confidence as you enjoy your brilliant new look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
